Two More Holiday Donation Drives: CD 5 and LA Sanitation

 

Earlier this week, we told you about two holiday donation drives being co-sponsored by City Council District 4.  Today, we’re passing along two more drives, one from CD 5, and the other from the LA Department of Sanitation.  See below for specific items needed and drop-off locations.

 

City Council District 5

The office of City Councilmember Paul Koretz will be collecting the following items for unhoused neighbors in CD 5:

  • Socks (new) – The most requested item!
  • Underwear (new)
  • Beanies (new or gently used)
  • Sweatshirts (new or gently used)
  • Sweatpants (new or gently used)
  • Blankets (new or gently used)
  • Female hygiene products
  • Dog food or snacks

Donations will be accepted through Monday, December 20, and can be dropped off at the CD 5 District Office at 6380 Wilshire Blvd., the Cheviot Hills Recreation Center at 2551 Motor Ave, or a volunteer’s residence at 1022 Selby Ave.  See the flier for more information.

 

LA Department of Sanitation

The Department of Sanitation and Solid Resources Citywide Recycling Division (SRCRD) will also be collecting items for unhoused Angelenos, including:

      • New and gently used (washed and clean) blankets
      • Sleeping bags
      • Socks

The donations will be distributed at LASAN Mobile Hygiene Units, which provide showers and other services for the unhoused.  

Items can be dropped off from now through Thursday, December 30 (not including December 24 and 25), from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the city’s Sanitation Yards.  Locations closest to our area include:

West LA District Yard
2027 Stoner Ave., 90025

South LA District Yard
786 S. Mission Rd., 90023

Washington Yard
2649 E. Washington Blvd., Building B, 90023
