For ten years,  Jackie Kruse, a registered nurse and Windsor Square resident, has been organizing blood drives in the neighborhood. But the drive at St. Brendan School on May 9th will be her last now that her son, the youngest of three, is graduating from the school.
“As a registered nurse with young children, it was a way for me to participate in something medical and support our neighborhood community,” she wrote in an email to past donors.
Kruse started organizing Blood Drives for the Red Cross first at The Ebell of Los Angeles, and then moved to St. Brendan School when the beautiful Parish Center (a.k.a. The Gym) opened 7 years ago.  A new parent will take over chairing blood drives for the school, and future donations will benefit Children’s Hospital instead of the Red Cross.
Kruse told the Buzz she wanted to thank you everyone who had been a past donor for the American Red Cross at St. Brendan, and that she hopes they can come one more time on Tuesday, May 9th to make another life-saving donation.
If you want to make a donation on May 9th, please visit www.redcrossblood.org and enter StBrendanLA. Or you can contact Jackie by email with the time you’d like an appointment between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., first come, first served.
