
There are plans percolating among planners in Los Angeles to expand the green space in the city by building “caps” over parts of the Hollywood Freeway. Â According to the websites Curbed LA and Hollywood Unbound the plan backed by the Friends of Hollywood Central Park is moving ahead as the CRA/LA Board has approved $2 Million to fund the preparation of the Economic Impact Report (EIR).
This proposed “cap” would be a 1-mile long deck over the stretch of the 101-Freeway between Bronson and Santa Monica, through Hollywood – resulting in a 44-acre public park above. There is also a Downtown 101 Freeway cap project in the works (called Park 101). There’s not a lot of information on the current status of that project…
