EDITORS UPDATE: We have been informed that the cost has been reduced to $150 for a party of two for the event.

The Wilshire Community Police Station is raising funds for the LAPD’s youth empowerment program by hosting “A Night at the Sports Museum 2” on Saturday, November 2nd, 2013.

The LAPD Cadet program offers educational and cultural experiences to youth in the Wilshire division.

This year the need to raise funds is greater than ever with over 200 boys and girls aged 8 – 21 participating in the LAPD Cadet programs. Through the Cadet program, children and young adults are exposed to cultural, educational, and police training activities, taking them off the streets and into productive activities. Many go on to join the LAPD, educational, legal or civic organizations after their experience as Cadets.

The fundraiser will be held at the  Los Angeles Sports Museum, considered the world’s largest collection of iconic sports memorabilia and collectibles. The museum houses Babe Ruth’s 1934 uniform, Joe DiMaggio’s record-breaking ball from his legendary 56-game hitting streak, jerseys from NBA and NFL greats, and the 1941 Heisman Trophy awarded to Minnesota’s Bruce Smith.

Tickets are $100 (reduced price) or $150 for a couple, and include entrance, food, and entertainment. Contributions are tax deductible.
